The children participate in the South Tipperary Schools Heritage Project each year. This is an annual project for the Education and Outreach Department of South Tipperary County Museum. It gives the children the opportunity to study their local area and become familiar with their surrounding environment and to appreciate the value of it in their lives. It also instils in the children a sense of identity and place.
In 2013 Ballyneale NS was the overall winner in south Tipperary for their project on Ballyneale Castle.
