Athletics

The children of Ballyneale NS receive athletics training from Ms Whelan both during and after school.

The school has a strong tradition of participating in Cross County and other athletics events.

We have achieved notable results in these events.  Tom Brett and Hazel McFadden won gold medals in the Medium Schools 3^rd and 4^th Class Category in the County Cross Country Championships in 2011.

The school won the Clonmel Cross Country Championships for small schools in 2011.  The school won team gold medals for girls, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth in the Clonmel Athletics Championships.  It also won the Bill Hyland Shield at this event.

In the County Cross Country Championships 2013 in Thurles Mark O’Meara won a silver medal in the 5^tt and 6^th Class category for medium schools and Seán O’Meara won a bronze individual medal in the 3^rd and 4^th Class category.

Girl’s school team consisting of Erin Hanrahan, Keelan Hanrahan and Mia Corcoran achieved bronze medals in the 3^rd and 4^th Class category.

Hazel McFadden, Áine Hahessy and Siobhán O’Meara won silver team medals in the 5^th and 6^th Class category.

In the Cross Country Championships in Clonmel in 2013 Mark O’Meara won an individual silver medal in the 5^th and 6^th Class boys category while Hazel McFadden won an individual medal in the 5^th and 6^th Class girls category.

The 5^th and 6^th Class girls won gold medals in the team event while the 3^rd and 4^th Class girls team won silver.
