All children in third class to sixth class participate in swimming lessons at Seán Kelly Sports Centre, Carrick-on-Suir. During these lessons pupils receive expert instruction under the supervision of trained coaches.
They receive PAWS Certificates each year.
It is hoped that by the time they leave Ballyneale NS all pupils will have gained confidence in the water and will have learned to swim.
Children from the school can participate in the Munster Schools Swimming Competition. Pupils have won medals at Munster level and have represented the school at All-Ireland level.
