General Information

  • Our state of the art school became a reality in 2008 as a result of hard work by Board of Management, parents, teachers and the people of Ballyneale.  There are almost 100 pupils attending Ballyneale NS.
  • Facilities include 4 modern classrooms, 2 well equipped resource rooms, 2 hardcourts and a pitch.  Each classroom is equipped with interactive whiteboards to aid teaching.
  • Ballyneale NS is a Catholic Primary School, under the patronage of the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, but welcomes children of other faiths and of none.
  • There are six teachers in the school.  Four mainstream teachers and Special Education Teachers.
  • We have one special needs assistant (SNA) in the school.
  • The school is co-educational.
  • The school depends on grants and teaching resources provided by the Department of Education and Skills and it operates within Department Regulations.
  • The school follows the Curricular programmes prescribed by the Department of Education and Skills
  • Within the context and parameters of Department Regulations and programmes, the rights of the Patron as set out in the Education Act and the funding and Resources available, the school supports the principles of:
    • Inclusiveness, particularly with reference to children with a disability or other special educational needs,
    • Equality of access and participation in the school,
    • Parental choice in relation to enrolment,
    • Respect for the diversity of values, beliefs, cultures, traditions, languages and ways of life in society.
  • School Uniform:             
  • The school uniform consists of:
    • Wine jumper
    • Wine and gold tie
    • White shirt
    • Grey skirt/trousers
    • Black shoes

On very warm days pupils may wear white polo shirt but must wear grey trousers/skirt.

  • The school day runs from 9.20am to 3.00pm with a break 11.00-11.10am and 12.30-1.00pm.

Junior and Senior Infants classes finish at 2.00pm.  For the first 2 weeks of the school year the junior Infants finish their school day at 12.25pm.

  • Jane’s Montessori School is situated on the school site and caters for children 2-4 years.
  • The school employs a part-time secretary Monday – Friday 10.00am – 2.00pm.  The secretary will answer any queries regarding the school during these hours.
  • Enrolment Procedures:   Parents who wish to enrol their children in Ballyneale NS may do so by contacting the school by phone and then by completing an Enrolment Form before the end of April in any year.  We hold an Enrolment afternoon during the month of June.
  • School Policies:   Copies of all the schools policies are available on request at the Secretary’s office.
