We are extremely lucky to have parents Ian and Sandra Sheehan to coach our 5-a-side soccer and futsal teams with Ms Whelan after school.
They do tremendous work not only in teaching the children the basic skills of soccer but also developing their sense of teamwork and self confidence.
Ballyneale NS mixed 5-a-side soccer team of Angela McGuigan, Ian Brett, Ian Holloway, Manus McFadden, Luke Sheehan, Zach Ellis, Thomas Parle and Mark O’Meara were crowned County and Munster 5-a-side Soccer Champions for small schools in 2013.
The greatest moment for our soccer team was on April 25th 2013 when they were crowned All-Ireland Champions in the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
It was truly a momentous occasion for the school and two buses of supporters travelled to Dublin to cheer on our heroes. There was a fantastic welcome for the team when it returned victorious to Ballyneale that evening.
